Vision for Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. Psalm 127:1 Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law. Proverbs 29:18 (ESV)
A small formative church prayerfully discerned a set of Biblically-based Vision “Pillars” through reading Scripture, prayer (individual and team), reviewing God’s leading of that little church and participating in a Vision planning retreat together. This process took place over the course of 6 months and the Holy Spirit’s leading was clear throughout the discernment.
They used the term “pillars” because all seven pillars stand together in order to hold up the God-given vision for the church. If one of the pillars is removed, then the Vision loses a critical aspect and cannot stand.
