If you have not, why not set that as a personal reading objective right now? Personally, I have found that "The Message" by Eugene H. Peterson is an excellent and easy read. His intent is to "bring into English the rhythms and idioms of the original language" by using the source documents instead of subsequent English translations.
The goal of "The Message" is to engage people in the reading process and help them understand what they read. This is not a study Bible, but rather "a reading Bible." Eugene Peterson's work is ideal for those who hadn't read the Bible because it seemed too distant and irrelevant and those who had read the Bible so much that it had become 'old hat.'
